Our Council & Personnel Team

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

How Council Members Are Selected & What They Do

Our Council gathers monthly to pray, plan, and ask for the guidance of the Spirit over the ministries of this congregation. They empower Ministry Teams, oversee the creation and management of the congregation's finances, and in partnership with the Personnel Team, empower, oversee, support, and evaluate church staff.

Each year, outgoing Council members are teamed with several members from the congregation who are elected at the previous year's Annual Meeting to form the "Nominating Team." This Team then meets with the Discipleship Coordinator to pray and make use of the Spiritual Gifts inventories to identify members with gifts in leadership and interpersonal relationships.

The most important "qualifications" for a Council member include healthy communication skills, a personality that engenders trust in others, a willingness to take time for prayer and meeting preparation, and a tendency toward faithful consideration of all sides of a given issue.

Once they have identified leaders with those gifts, the Nominating Team then sends invitations to those identified to consider allowing their name to be on the list of nominees at the next Annual Meeting of the congregation.

If you know of someone who possesses the gifts underlined above, whom you believe would be a faith-filled and trustworthy leader, please e-mail the Council President using the links below to help us identify our next generation of leaders!

If you have not yet filled out a Spiritual Gifts inventory, please do so here! It is a great way for the Discipleship Coordinator to connect you to ministries that fit your gifts and passions!

Council Meetings

The Council's meetings are always open to all congregational members, and the dates and times of the meetings can be found on our calendar. Please join us if you would like to see how that faithful process works, or if you desire to dream, plan, or speak with those leaders. If you plan on attending a future Council meeting to present something, please use the links below to e-mail the Council President to request time in the agenda.
